About this site

Run by: CurioMori

This site answers everyday "why?" questions about animals, nature, science and food with a 30-second answer and friendly explanations with photos and diagrams. The guide, Kohaku (a fox-eared secretary), is an original character created by the site operator. The site was first written in Japanese and translated into English.

Contact

Please use our contact form. The form is in Japanese, but you are welcome to write in English.

Accuracy

Articles are written after checking sources such as encyclopedias, zoos and aquariums, universities, museums and public research institutions. The sources we checked are listed in each article. Even so, some information may be wrong or out of date. If you notice anything, please let us know through the contact form and we will check and correct it.

Images

Photos come from Wikimedia Commons under licenses that allow free use (public domain, CC0, CC BY, CC BY-SA). The author, license and original page are shown below each photo. Diagrams and character illustrations are provided by the site operator.

Privacy policy

This site does not currently show advertising. If we start using advertising, we will announce it on this page.

We use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, to understand how visitors use this site so we can improve our articles. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect this data. The data is collected anonymously and does not identify you personally. We do not use advertising cookies. For visitors in the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland, analytics cookies are not used. You can refuse collection by disabling cookies in your browser settings. For details, see Google Analytics Terms of Service and How Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Messages sent through the contact form (including an optional name and email address) are stored on this site's server (Cloudflare) and used only to respond to you and improve the site. We do not share them with third parties except where required by law. We do not store IP addresses or device information (they are used only briefly, in an irreversible form, to prevent repeated submissions).

The share buttons (X, Facebook, LINE, WhatsApp) open each service's page, where that service's own policies apply.
